Jakarta, Indonesia – In a major step forward for both gender representation and financial innovation in Southeast Asia, Elvi Rofiqotul Hidayah, Director of Marketing & Product Development at PT Pegadaian, has been honored with the Women’s Inspiration Awards 2025. The award, presented in the Women in Business Leadership category, recognized her pivotal role in creating Indonesia’s first bullion bank.
The accolade was awarded during a ceremony in Jakarta on April 29, 2025, marking a milestone not only for Pegadaian but for Indonesia’s evolving financial sector. The award jury comprised academics, women’s rights activists, and senior executives from major media and corporate organizations, underscoring the significance and credibility of the recognition.
Elvi led Pegadaian to become the first institution in Indonesia officially licensed by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to operate bullion banking services. Granted in December 2024, this license allows Pegadaian to offer a comprehensive suite of gold-based financial products, including gold deposits, gold-backed working capital loans, corporate custody, and gold trading services.
“This achievement is the result of persistent effort and collective teamwork,” said Elvi. “The establishment of Pegadaian’s gold bank is our way of supporting Indonesia’s downstreaming agenda and economic empowerment by ‘gold-enriching’ the nation.”
Pegadaian’s bullion banking initiative is expected to broaden access to safe haven investments such as gold, particularly amid global economic uncertainties. As physical and digital gold investments gain popularity across Asia, Pegadaian’s services position the company as a key enabler in democratizing financial tools for wealth preservation.
Beyond innovation, the award also celebrates Elvi’s role in championing women’s leadership in Indonesia’s traditionally male-dominated financial services sector. “As women, we must continue to inspire, innovate, and lead—proving that women can drive change and make a lasting impact in any field,” she emphasized.
Pegadaian, long known for its grassroots financial services, is now expanding its strategic focus to support national goals such as financial literacy, inclusion, and Indonesia’s 2045 Golden Vision. The gold bank model is expected to enhance financial accessibility and economic participation across various socio-economic segments.
This recognition at the Women’s Inspiration Awards places Pegadaian among a growing group of financial institutions in the Asia-Pacific region leveraging innovation to achieve broader development outcomes—while also spotlighting the vital role of women in driving systemic transformation.
