In the pursuit of Indonesia’s ambitious Golden 2045 vision, the Director General of Infrastructure Financing for Public Works and Housing (Dirjen PI), Herry Trisaputra Zuna, advocates for a transformative approach to infrastructure financing. Addressing stakeholders at the “Food Security & Infrastructure Supporting Indonesia’s Golden 2045” Talkshow & Halal Bihalal event in Jakarta on April 25, 2024, Zuna emphasized the pivotal role of innovative financing strategies.

The road to Indonesia’s Golden future necessitates a substantial elevation in per capita income, targeting $33,000, a formidable leap from the current $5,600. With two decades left until 2045, Zuna highlighted the urgency of the task at hand, stressing the imperative of concerted efforts to narrow the significant disparity.

At the core of this endeavor lies a pronounced escalation in infrastructure investment, slated to burgeon to 8% of the GDP by 2045, up from the current 5%. Furthermore, the infrastructure stock must burgeon to 70% of the GDP by 2045, representing a substantial augmentation from the existing 40%.

Zuna underscored that the journey towards Indonesia’s Golden horizon demands a methodical and unwavering commitment. “It’s a journey of evolution, not revolution; it demands persistent and deliberate action. Innovation is the linchpin in shaping and actualizing this vision,” he asserted.

The imperative for innovation in infrastructure financing is underscored by the multifaceted challenges confronting current development initiatives. Among these challenges is the glaring disparity in water storage capacity, with Indonesia trailing far behind neighboring Malaysia in per capita capacity.

Moreover, Indonesia grapples with significant impediments in providing piped water access, reaching only a fraction of the population. Additionally, the housing sector grapples with a substantial backlog in homeownership, impacting millions of households nationwide. This discourse epitomizes the collaborative efforts between the Media Indonesia Institute and the Legal and Public Communication Division of the Directorate General of Infrastructure Financing for Public Works and Housing. Through constructive dialogue and innovative strategies, these endeavors aim to propel Indonesia towards the realization of its Golden 2045 aspirations.
